The Government of Bangladesh has accepted the resignation of Dr. M. Aslam Alam, Chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), effectively cancelling his contractual appointment.

Simultaneously, Mr. Md. Fazlul Haque, the current Member (Administration) of IDRA, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Acting Chairman to oversee the organization's administrative and financial operations.

These developments were confirmed through two separate official orders issued on Wednesday (April 8) by the Financial Institutions Division (Insurance-1 Branch) of the Ministry of Finance.

The orders, signed by Deputy Secretary Iftekharul Karim, stated that the decision was taken in accordance with Section 5(3) of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Act, 2010.

Mr. Md. Fazlul Haque has been directed to exercise full administrative and financial powers as Chairman until a permanent appointment is made. It is noteworthy that the former Chairman, Dr. M. Aslam Alam, submitted his resignation on March 2, citing personal reasons.
